LEWIS Carroll was born Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, author of the famous story of Alice in Wonderland had strong family links with Irton and Holmrook. The property know as High House where Irt Valley View is located was part of Holmrook Hall Estate in Holmrook.   Lewis Carroll's Uncle the Rev Charles Skeffington Lutwidge owned the Hall and Lewis made frequent visits to his Uncle.  It is not hard to see how the woodlands on the property may have inspired Lewis Carroll's imagination into writing Alice in Wonderland
